In my opinion, Facts and Statistics are most important when the presenter is trying to persuade the audience or simply give insight on a particular topic. For instance, for an informative speech on AIDS, statistics can provide the audience with specific information such as an age group that is infected. In Addition, facts can provide the audience with data on when the AIDS virus started, and information on treatments. Although "facts and stats" are great fillers, for some speeches they are better left out. For instance, The Debutante Ball was my first speech topic, and although I had a lot of facts to present about the history, and certain criteria, there was no necessity for "stats."

Useful Thinking!!!
I found several concepts useful within the text; however there was one that stuck out the most. Mainly because I seem to always mess this up while writing an outline. The concept of "internal summaries" ensures a method to keep your outline connected. The purpose of internal summaries is to allow the author to effectively move on to the next main point. While writing the Cultural Artifact Outline, I found it very difficult to find a transitioning method that would empower my outline/speech. Yet, with the exploration of this concept, the transitioning step in my Informative outline should convey smoothly.

The Audience is Important? I Think! :- )
First and Foremost, this is a very important topic to analyze and I truly believe that the AUDIENCE is the key to maintaining a successful presentation. Analyzing the audience will give the presenter insight on what the audience expectations consists of, as well as their attitudes, behaviors etc. Chapter 5 offered a technique called “audience research questionnaires,” which will result in the presenter having more information about the audience. Audience adaptation is importance in the development process because it allows the presenter to reach a level of comfort while presenting and the ability to connect with audience members of all sorts.

Behavior
“Adapting to Your Audience” was a great chapter to analyze before giving our speeches on the 27th. This chapter covered topics that will familiarize us with our audience and different techniques to provide connection and interaction. After going through all of the key concepts in Chapter 5, I seemed to keep drawing back to the term “Behavior.” I think the term behavior is essential in any presentation for both the speaker and the audience. For instance, if the speaker shows, positive attitude, energy, and interaction during a presentation, in most cases the audience will act accordingly, and/ or be interested.

"Interviewing" should have a manual for BEGINNERS
Yes YEs YES I have conducted research interviews, yet I must first admit how poorly they were. As my title states, "Interviewing should have a manual for beginners." That statement simple means, conducting an interview is as simple as some try to make. My first interview I conducted went horribly. I knew nothing about the topic I was asking question about, and I concluded that the interviewer should be able to keep the interviewee interested. After my first interview had failed, I decided to try another one because I was so certain that once I did my research, I would obtain better questions, and I could inquire a lot more. Little did I know that a conversation could take your interview even further. During my third interview, I decided to take my research process a step further, and come up with question that could motivate a conversation. I found that having conversation talk that is relative to the topic relaxes the interviewer and makes the process seemingly smooth.

Research and its Relativity
While reading chapter 6 of the text book, a lot of the concepts, at first appeared to be all familiar words, and then the concept of RELEVANCE surfaced. I often used my search engine inadequately, using one word examples, constantly wondering why 100,000 results showed up and none of them were what I wanted. For instance, one day I was searching for information on my cell phone and its features, so I typed “Palm Treo.” As you can imagine, I received almost 1 million results on Palm Treos. Seeing as there are several different models with numerous features. After reading and understanding the concept of Relevance, I should have typed with more detail/ RELEVANCE. “Palm Treo 750 features..." Duh Kw33nSpeak3r use your brain L.O.L

To Breathe or Not to Breathe!!!!!
After watching video 2.1, i learned different breathing exercises that will help me to relax during the preparation and presentation of my speeches. Video 2.2 also offered techniques on speeches; however, video 2.2 touched on how to manage your speech anxiety and fears. Although each of the videos were equally helpful, the technique that stuck out the most included, asking the professor about the grading process, as well as evaluating your audiences before the Q & A.
Reflection
After watching all three videos i will definitely utilize the ideas of breathing, preparation, relaxation (i adore the idea of meditation) and adding personal experiences to speeches.
